Eight Area Teams Highlight Jan. 14 KBCA Rankings

It’s midseason tournament time across much of the state of Kansas and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the newest high school basketball rankings featuring eight area teams.

In the girls 3A rankings Nemaha Central remains in the top spot at a perfect 9-0, while Pleasant Ridge is into the rankings for the first time checking in at No. 9 at 8-1.

The boy’s rankings in 3A also features two area teams, with the Maur Hill Mount Academy boys up to No. 2 at 8-0 while Sabetha dropped to sixth after suffering their first loss of the season to Perry Lecompton 54-42 on Friday.

Two more area girls’ teams are featuring in the 2A rankings, with Jackson Heights up to No. 2 with a 7-1 record and the Jefferson County North girls at No. 8 at 6-2.  

The final two ranked area teams come in Class 1A and both on the girl’s side as Centralia is up to No. 4 at 7-1, while Frankfort is seventh holding an 8-1 record.
