ACCHS Wrestling Wins Atchison Invitational to Lead Area Performances

2019 George Worley Invitational – Results

Behind four first place finishes the ACCHS wrestling team came away with the top spot at the George Worley Invitational on Saturday hosted by Atchison taking first place by nearly 50 points more than second place Schlagle.

The Tigers received first place finishes by Mason Scholz who took first in the 106 pound weight class while Tiler Hewitt also took first at 138 pounds, Ivan Smith at 182 and Sabastian Longbrake at 220 pounds.

ACCHS also had Colby Smith take second at 132 pounds, while Makaea Forbes did the same at 195 pounds.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy also had a strong showing on Saturday taking fourth as a team, led by Conner Wilson who took first at 160 pounds and Dylan Smith second at 152.

As to the host Redmen they finished fifth as a team with Nick Funk leading the way with a first place finish at 285 pounds. Atchison also had three second place finishers in the meet, as Archer Willis took second at 106 pounds, Jayden Watkins at 126 and Gavin Rebant second at 145.

Oskaloosa finished sixth in the meet and were led by Christopher King who took second at 285 pounds while Eli King also took second at 182.

Pleasant Ridge, Jeff West and Onaga also each finished with wrestlers inside of the top three of their respective weight class, as the Buffaloes Kameron Henneberg took first at 195 pounds while Joel Scott of Jeff West also took first in the 170 pound weight class. The Rams rounded out top finishers with a second place finish by Nathan Wilburn at 120 pounds.
