Nine Area Teams Highlight Feb. 11 KBCA Rankings

Just two weeks remain in the high school basketball regular season for most area teams and with that the newest set of rankings have been released by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association with nine area teams ranked.

The most ranked area teams continue to come in Class 3A, as the Nemaha Central girls continue to be ranked No. 1 with an outstanding record of 15-1 with a perfect 10-0 mark in the Big 7 League.

The Jeff West girls are also ranked eighth and Pleasant Ridge ninth, as the Tigers are 14-3 on the year while the Lady Rams are 14-2.

On the boys side of the 3A rankings Maur Hill-Mount Academy continues to hold the top overall spot at 15-0, while Perry Lecompton is ranked seventh with a 15-2 record and Sabetha ninth at 13-4.

Two teams continue to hold spots on the girl’s side of the 2A rankings, as Jeff County North holds the No. 3 ranking this week with a record of 15-2 while Jackson Heights is ranked eighth at 12-3.

The final ranked area team comes with the Frankfort girls ranked third in Class 1A, as the Wildcats have won 11 straight games and are 17-1 on the year.
