Eight Area Teams Highlight Final KBCA Rankings for 2018-19 Season

The high school basketball season is coming down to the final stretch with sub-state play getting underway next week and with the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the final rankings for the 2018-19 season with eight area teams ranked.

Once again the most ranked area teams come in Class 3A on the girls side with four teams ranked in the top 10. The Nemaha Central girls remain in the top overall spot with a record of 17-2 and Monday night wrapped up the Big 7 League regular season title.

Two fellow Big 7 League teams follow the Thunder in the 3A rankings, as Jeff West is ranked second with a 16-3 record while Sabetha is ninth at 15-3.

The Pleasant Ridge girls also remain in the 3A rankings this week, as the Lady Rams are 16-2 on the year with a chance to wrap up a Northeast Kansas League title this week.

The boy’s side of the 3A rankings continues to house two teams with Maur Hill-Mount Academy still ranked first at 17-0, while Perry Lecompton checks in at No. 6 with a record of 16-2.

In the Class 2A rankings the Jeff County North girls are all the way up to No. 2, as the Lady Chargers hold an outstanding record of 16-2.

The final ranked area team comes in Class 1A on the girls side, as the Frankfort girls are ranked third with a record of 19-1 after earning a share of the Twin Valley League regular season title.
