Six Area Girls Qualify for Inaugural KSHSAA Wrestling Tournament

KSHSAA East Regional Girls Wrestling – Results

For the first time ever the Kansas State High School Activities Association hosted girl’s regional wrestling with a spot in the first ever girl’s state championship tournament on the line and six area girls earned tickets to the inaugural tournament.

Paola high school was the host of the east regional tournament and the ACCHS Tigers ended the day as the only team with multiple state qualifiers as Tannah Forbes claimed second place at 191 pounds while Drucilla Longbrake earned fourth at 235.

The only regional champion came from the Onaga Buffaloes who had Morgan Mayginnes earn a regional title at 155 pounds.

The final three state qualifiers came from three Big 7 League teams as Jeff West had Montana Grahem qualify for state with a fourth-place finish at 130 pounds while Royal Valley’s Maya Ogden took fourth at 136 and Sabetha’s Vivian Strahm fifth at 170 pounds.

These six girls now get set for the first ever KSHSAA State Wrestling Tournament which is scheduled for Thursday, February 27 at the Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.
