6-Man Football to be Sanctioned by KSHSAA
By Brandon Tadtman

The KSHSAA Board of Directors on Wednesday morning voted to sanction 6-man football starting in 2022. The sport was approved by a unanimous vote.

Holding a championship at the 6-man level will be contingent on being able to field 24 teams. Right now, there are currently 15 teams participating at that level.

It’s not certain how many teams will be able to compete next year, but the plan is to have 24 teams competing at the 6-man level.

6-man football resurfaced in Kansas back in 2014.

Amendments also made to the agenda item included adjusting Class 3A football to 40 schools, Class 2A to 40 schools and Class 1A to the remaining 11-man playing schools beginning in the 2022 season.
