In late February, we had multiple area athletes claim State Wrestling Championship titles.
Oskaloosa’s Holly Thacher claimed the 4-1A title at 115 pounds. The road to the championship wasn’t an easy one as her last three matches of the tournament were by decisions of 5-2, 4-3, and 4-2. For the season, she finished with an overall record of 30-4.
Sabetha’s Colin Menold posted a dominant 43-0 season on his way to claiming the 3-2-1A title at 150 pounds. Menold would defeat Wyatt Gardner of Leoti-Wichita County in the title match.
Also, an honorable mention shoutout to the runner-up finishers. Easton Schletzbaum of ACCHS at 157 in 3-2-1A, Keaton Rottinghaus of Nemaha Central at 113 in 3-2-1A, and Dalton Roush of Holton at 215 in 4A.
