The Big East League boys golf tournament featured a tightly contested field Monday afternoon at Lake Shawnee Golf Course, with Sabetha emerging as the team champion by the slimmest of margins.
The Bluejays finished with a team score of 336 to edge both Jefferson West and Nemaha Central, who each carded a 337. Perry-Lecompton and Rossville were close behind at 345 in one of the most competitive league tournaments of the season.
Rossville’s Jack Donovan claimed individual medalist honors after firing a 1-over-par 71 to lead all golfers on the day.
Nemaha Central’s Layton Thomas finished runner-up with a 75, followed by Jefferson West’s Gage Moser with a 78. Perry-Lecompton’s Toby Wagner and Holton’s Easton Moulin each shot a 79 to round out the top five.
Completing the top 10 individual finishers were Sabetha’s Hudson Scoby with an 81, Royal Valley’s Nolan Bausch with an 82, Silver Lake’s Brody Kelley with an 82, Silver Lake’s Noah Streit with an 82, and Nemaha Central’s Colten Corby with an 82.
The remainder of the team standings included Silver Lake at 355, St. Marys at 368, Hiawatha at 371, Royal Valley at 388, and Riley County at 440.
