3A Sub-State at Horton -- Championship
For the 7th straight year the Nemaha Valley Raiders claimed a sub-state championship and earned a spot at the state tournament by topping their rival Sabetha and avenging their lone two losses this season. Raiders led just 31-28 going into the 4th quarter over Sabetha as the Bluejays only held two leads during the game at 6-5 early and 25-23 in 3rd quarter.
Nemaha Valley was led by Caleb Meyer who scored 21 points, while fellow senior, Justice McKernan scored 17 points (posting at least that mark for the fourth straight game). Meyer had 15 of his 21 in the first half and McKernan hit 10-12 free throws in the 4th quarter.
Sabetha saw their unbeaten season come to an end in the sub-state championship, as they were led by Kellen Russell who finished with 12 points, while Jacob Frey added 12, too.
