Frankfort Wins Washington County Boys Golf Invite

It was finally tee time on Thursday for some area boys golf teams as they were able to break out the clubs and get the season rolling competing at Cedar Hills golf course in Washington. 

Frankfort paced the way on links posting a team score of 354 to take first place out of seven schools that field full teams with nine schools represented overall on the day. Nemaha Central notched a second place finish as a team with a 368, while Riley County and Republic County took third and fourth with team scores of 377 and 386. Washington County, Hanover and Centralia all field four-man teams finishing with scores of 402, 469 and 474, while Onaga and Valley Heights were both in action but did not field full four-man teams. 

Leading the way for Frankfort on their way to the top team performance was the top individual score of the day as Austin Hardwick carded an 85 to win the Washington County Invite. Brandon Anderson earned third place with an 88 for the Wildcats, while Branden Bussman shot an 89 for fifth place. Josh Tynon finished out the four-man team score posting a round of 92.

Nemaha Central on the day was led by a trio of Top 10 finishers as Dalton Schmelzle, Billy Mitchell and Eric Hammes all carded rounds of 90 to place sixth, eighth and ninth respectively. Cassidy Corby rounded out the team score with a 98 for the Thunder. 

Valley Heights had a Top 10 performer on the day as Bryan Yungeberg earned fourth after shooting an 88. 

Washington County and Onaga was led by a 94 from Kobe Hoover and 97 from KC Koelzer, respectively, while the top performance from Centralia was a Kenton Talley who shot a 106.
