Area Boys Golf Teams Compete at Atchison Invite

Mother Nature has started to give us some good weather and spring sports have been enjoying the weather continuing their season and several area boys golfers did that on Thursday at the Atchison Invite. 

Only three of the area schools represented at the Atchison Invite field full four-man teams as Holton, Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Oskaloosa posted team scores. The Wildcats and Ravens each posted a 378 team score to tie for sixth place out of 10 teams in competition. Oskaloosa finished with a 493 team. The top team score on the day belonged to Basehor-Linwood as they posted a 316 score. 

The only area golfer to card a Top 10 performance on the day was Holton Wildcat, AJ Haussler who shot a 78 to place third and was one of only three golfers to finish under 80 on the day. 

Maur Hill was led by Riley Funk who shot a 93, while Hiawatha had two competitors in action on the day and Caden Lillie led the Red Hawks by shooting a 98. The host Atchison had Nathan Sowers on the links and he posted a 95, while Oskaloosa was led by Kaden Tarwater who shot a 104 and Royal Valley was led by Corey Humpert as he shot a 106.
