Legion baseball season is underway and the latest team to join the senior legion portion of the Northeast Kansas League in Marysville opened their season with a non-league win over Wymore (NE) 9-1. 

Marysville jumped up early plating a run in the bottom of the first inning on a Hunter Warnick RBI double to take a 1-0 lead and then added another run in the second and third innings to lead 3-0 after three innings. The game broke open in the fourth as Marysville tallied four runs and added two more in the bottom of the fifth to end the game after Wymore got their only run in the top of the fifth as Marysville won 9-1. 

Leading the 12-hit attack for Marysville in the win was Jacob Latta who went 3-3 at the plate. While, Brennan Wetter, Warnick and Jayton Haggard each had two-hits and Warnick and Storm Slupianek each had a pair of RBI's. Owen Nietfeld earned the win on the mound going five innings giving up just one run on three hits and struckout five. 

Season continues for Marysville on Friday, June 1st as they play host to Beatrice (NE) at 8:00pm for senior legion action.
