Heading into the 2018 high school volleyball season, Axtell head coach Pam Buessing needed just eight victories to eclipse 300 wins in her coaching career.

Tuesday night Buessing finished off that feat, as the Eagles picked up two wins over Hanover and Doniphan West at their home quad.

The two wins improved Buessing’s career record to 300-260 as she is in her 16th season with the Eagles and 16th season coaching overall.

Buessing started coaching back in 2003, and last season coached the Eagles to the 1A-DII state tournament in Hays where Axtell went 1-2 in pool play.

The Eagles won state just two years ago in 2016, the same year Buessing was named the 1A-DII Coach of the Year.

So far this season the Eagles and Buessing are off to an 8-5 start to the season, and will continue the 2018 campaign Tuesday on the road at the Valley Heights Triangular.
