The Holton volleyball team competed in the Rossville Invitational Saturday, and the Lady Cats had a strong showing coming away with a third place finish.

Holton opened up the tournament by going a perfect 4-0 in pool play, knocking off Rossville in two sets in the opening match of the day 17-25, 18-25.

The Lady Cats then picked up a hard fought three-set win over Clay Center, before finishing up pool play with a pair of two set wins over Osage City and Abilene.

The four wins pushed Holton into the semifinals, where the Lady Cats fell to Ottawa in a three set thriller 16-25, 25-18 and 19-25.

After the loss the Wildcats found themselves in the third place match up against Abilene, and Holton finished the tournament on a high note winning in straight sets 18-25, 23-25.

The 5-1 mark in the tournament pushed the Lady Cats record to 13-5 on the year. Holton will next be in action Tuesday night hosting a triangular beginning at 5:00 p.m. which features Hiawatha and Riverside.
