KVA Rankings – Week Two.

The second full week of the high school volleyball season wrapped up Saturday, and with that the second set of regular season rankings have been released by the Kansas Volleyball Association with four area teams named.

Once again Royal Valley holds the top overall spot in Class 3A, as the Panther remain at No. 1 for the second consecutive week with a perfect 18-0 record. The Panthers picked up a pair of two set wins over Jeff West last week, and then followed that up with two more wins over Nemaha Central Tuesday night.

As to the Thunder they have actually moved up one spot in the 3A rankings from No. 3 to No. 2, sitting at 15-5 on the season with four of five losses to Royal Valley. Before the Thunder suffered the two losses to Royal Valley Tuesday night they went 4-0 last week, taking down Holton twice to go along with wins over Riverside and Perry Lecompton.

The Kaws meanwhile saw the biggest drop in the 3A rankings, going from No. 7 to No. 10 with an overall record of 11-3. Perry went 1-1 last week with a win over Riverside and a loss to Nemaha Central, before going 1-1 Tuesday night with a loss to Sabetha and a win over Jeff West.

In Class 1A it’s still the Centralia Panthers holding the top spot and for good reason. The Panthers are a perfect 21-0 on the season, and have dropped just one set all year. Centralia also has two tournament championships to their credit, with the latest coming last weekend as the Panther went 6-0 at the Hiawatha Invitational without dropping a set. They followed that up with two more wins Tuesday night, taking down Troy and Clifton-Clyde.
