Sabetha Girls Tennis Competes at Washburn Rural

The Sabetha girls tennis team continued its season Wednesday competing at the Washburn Rural Invite and came away with several top performances.

The best finished for the Lady Jays came from the No. 1 doubles team of Brooklyn Bauman and Kirsten Wenger, as they put together a first place performance going a perfect 3-0 on the day. The duo opened up play with a 6-2 win over a Washburn Rural duo, then followed that up with a 7-0 win over their Bluejays teammates Rachel Kramer and Nicole Stallbaumer before taking down a team from Shawnee Heights in the championship.

In No. 2 doubles the Bluejays also had the third and fourth place finishers, as the team of Hannah Wertenberger and Kinsey Menold took third with a win over Kramer and Stallbaumer in the third place match.

In No. 1 singles the best performance came from Ashten Hall, as she took third place defeating her teammate Jessica Payne in the third place match. The Bluejays also had Bree Voos take fifth, as she came out of the losers bracket going 2-1.

The best individual performance for Sabetha came in No. 2 singles, as Emily Murchinson placed second after going 3-1 on the day. Sabetha also had Jeanelle Wenger place eighth, while Chloe Menold took ninth.

Rounding out the day for the Bluejays was No. 2 doubles action, as Deborah Edelman and Hannah Whittaker placed seventh, while the team of Madison Menold and Emma Schilling finished eighth.

Next up for the Lady Jays is the regional meet Friday, October 5 at Hesston High School.
