2A Sub-State at Valley Heights – Bracket

2A State Tournament – Bracket

For the second straight season the Valley Heights Mustangs will compete at the 2A state tournament after claiming their home sub-state tournament Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs opened up the day with a two-set win over ACCHS 25-10, 25-11 in the opening round, before flying by Oskaloosa in the semifinals 25-8, 25-12.

The semifinal win propelled Valley Heights into the championship match up against Jeff County North, and the Mustangs once again needed just two sets to win taking down the Chargers 25-17, 25-23.

Valley Heights now heads into the state tournament in Hays with a 24-15 record, and the Mustangs will have three pool play matches Friday against St. Mary’s Colgan at 11 a.m., against Maranatha at 12-noon, and against Garden Plain at 2 p.m.

The Mustangs took third place at the state tournament last season, going 2-1 in pool play and 3-2 overall.
