Sabetha Basketball Sweeps Wamego on the Road

The Sabetha girls and boys basketball teams traveled to Wamego on Tuesday night as both took 1-0 records into their respective games looking to go 2-0. The 2013-2014 season was the last time these two teams matched up with the Wamego girls winning 54-39, while the Sabetha boys won 67-52.

            The Sabetha girls took the win in the first matchup 54-28 as Melinna Schumann had 11 points on the night as she led all scoring while Maggi Hughes also chipped in 10 points as well. Sabetha went 6-of-8 from the free throw line, while Wamego went 10 of 17 from the line as a team.

            The Sabetha boys completed the sweep with a 58-43 win in the night cap, as Ryan Stapleton and Gabe Garber each finished with 14 points while Jesse Burger also chipped in 12 points. The Bluejays went 11 of 21 from the free throw line, while Wamego went 7 of 12 from the line as a team.

            Both the Sabetha girls and boys left Wamego with 2-0 overall records on the season, and next up for the Blue Jays is Jeff West at home Friday night. Both the Wamego girls and boys drop to 1-1 overall and they will play host this Friday to Atchison High School, in Wamego.
