High school basketball sub-state tournaments came to a close on Saturday and eight area teams are still alive and have advanced to this week’s state tournaments.

In Class 3A on the boys side Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Perry Lecompton will compete in Hutch, while the Big 7 League will be represented on the girl’s side by Nemaha Central and Royal Valley.

The Class 2A state tournament features two Northeast Kansas League teams, as the Jackson Heights girls and McLouth will compete for state championships at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays.

The final two area teams competing for state championships hail from the same school, as the Hanover girls and boys are once again each back in Dodge City to compete at the 1A state tournament.
