The 2018-19 high school basketball season was once again extremely competitive throughout the Big 7 League and the end of the season proved just how good the league is with three teams making it to the Class 3A State Tournament.

The year was headlined by the Royal Valley girls capturing the school’s first ever girls state championship in a tournament which also featured the Nemaha Central girls taking fourth.

The Thunder won the regular season league title on the girl’s side with a 12-2 record, while the Perry Lecompton boys took the league crown while finishing third at state.

This season also saw Jeff West senior Aaliyah Negonsott go over 1,000 points in her career, which also made her the leading scorer in Tiger girls’ basketball history.

It was also a media worthy season for head coaches throughout the league, as Sabetha boy’s coach Scott Burger picked up his 500th career win while Royal Valley girls coach Kyle Porter was named the 3A coach of the year.

Next season is already shaping up to be another fun one and for one final look at this season final stats can be found below.
