KSHSAA Releases High School Baseball & Softball State Brackets

Last week three area teams punched their tickets to their respective state tournaments and with that the Kansas State High School Activities Association has released the brackets for each tournament upcoming this week.

In Class 2-1A the Oskaloosa softball team reached the state tournament for the second straight year in Pratt with a 9-7 win over Mission Valley in the McLouth regional championship and at 21-2 the Lady Bears drew the No. 2 seed and will face Burlingame (12-7) Thursday at 5:00.

In other softball state tournaments, the Holton Wildcats are also making their second straight appearance after taking down Jeff West 7-1 in the MH-MA regional championship on Thursday in Atchison. The Lady Cats enter the state tournament in Emporia with a 19-2 record and as the two-seed will go up against Colby who the seven-seed at 5:00 p.m. with live coverage on 103.9 KNZA.

The final area state team is the defending 3A champion Sabetha baseball team who wrapped up their home regional Thursday in a 13-6 win over Maur Hill-Mount Academy. The Bluejays, after winning it all as the seven-seed last year, drew the three-seed and will take on Baxter Springs (17-5) Thursday in Emporia at 5:45 p.m. with live coverage on 92.1 KMZA.
