Title-town Adds Another as Sabetha Golf Claims Second Straight 3A State Title

Well it’s another year and another state title for Sabetha high school, as Wednesday afternoon the Bluejay golf team wrapped up a second consecutive 3A state title winning the title in Emporia.

The Bluejays finished with a team score of 327 and were led by David Pierson who won the individual state title with a 76.

Jesse Burger also finished one stroke behind to take second, as he won a playoff against four other golfers.

Sabetha was rounded out by Marcus Funk who shot an 85 to take 22nd, while Riley Lierz was 36th with an 89.

Nemaha Central finished eighth as a team at the 3A state tournament, and the Thunder were led by Eric Hammes who shot an 81 to take 15th while Hunter Feldkamp also carded an 89.

The Holton Wildcats rounded out area state finishers with Ryan Taylor leading the way shooting an 89 which was good enough for a tie for 36th place.
