The 2018-19 school year officially came to a close last week for area high school’s, but the sports action continued over the weekend with area girls competing in the Kansas Volleyball Association All-Star Game at Lee Arena in Topeka Saturday evening.

The Red squad was represented by Nemaha Central’s Jacy Dalinghaus and Centralia’s Madison Lueger, while the Blue squad had the Thunder’s Riley Bontrager, the Panthers’ Maegan Koch and Holton’s Regan Baum.

The Blue jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the first set winning 25-20, but Red rebounded to take the final four sets, 25-17, 27-25, 25-23 and 15-13.

Saturday’s game wraps up five fantastic careers for each area athlete throughout Northeast Kansas, and leaves a lasting impression capped off by the KVA All-Star Game nominations.
