Royal Valley Volleyball Opens 2019 Claiming Marysville Invitational

The 2019 high school volleyball season got underway Saturday with area teams competing at the Marysville Invitational and the Royal Valley Panthers started the season off on a high note claiming the tournament championship by beating Sabetha in the championship.

The Panthers went 4-0 in pool play and opened the tournament with a quick two-set win over Sabetha.

Royal Valley followed that up with three more two set wins taking down Chapman, Washington County and Marysville to reach the semifinals.

The Panthers finished off the tournament championship with a two-set win over Valley Heights in the semifinals before beating Sabetha for the second time in the tournament which again came in just two sets.

While Royal Valley and Sabetha took first and second it was Valley Heights taking third with a three-set win over Concordia in the third-place game which was a hard-fought three-set win.

Other teams at the Marysville Invite included Nemaha Central who went 2-2 in pool play along with Hanover and Washington County who each went 0-4.
