Six Area Teams Highlight Week Two High School Football State Rankings

The high school football season kicked off Friday night for all area teams and with that the second set of state rankings have been released.

The best ranking for an area continues to come in Class 3A with the Sabetha Bluejays sitting at the top of the state after a season opening 13-6 win on the road at Nemaha Central.

In Class 1A one area team made a jump as Jackson Heights moved up one spot to No. 4 after a 46-8 beat down of Horton in week one while Centralia dropped out of the rankings after a 28-8 loss to Rossville.

Valley Heights also jumped into the 1A rankings on kpreps.com at No. 5 after a 52-7 blasting of Troy in week one.

The final ranked area teams come in 8-man DII as Hanover is No. 1 in all rankings, Axtell No. 2 in the kpreps rankings while being third in the Cap Journal rankings and Frankfort jumped into the rankings at No. 5 in the Cap Journal.

Hanover opened with a 42-14 win over Pike Valley, Axtell blewout St. John-Tipton 58-12 and Frankfort shutout Linn 52-0.
