Sabetha Volleyball Wins Nemaha Central Invitational

Nemaha Central Invite – Bracket

The high school volleyball season continued Saturday with Nemaha Central hosting an invitational and the Sabetha Bluejays captured the tournament championship beating the host Thunder in three sets in the title match.

Sabetha opened the tournament by going 4-0 in pool play picking up two-set wins over Nemaha, Horton, Rock Creek and ACCHS. The Bluejays then took down Atchison in the semifinals in two sets before knocking off the Thunder in the title match.

Nemaha Central made it to the title match by going 3-1 in pool with that loss to Sabetha, and two set wins over ACCHS, Horton and Rock Creek. The Thunder then beat Marysville in the semifinals in two sets before the title match loss to Sabetha.

After the semifinal loss to Nemaha Central, Marysville beat Atchison in two sets to finish third at the Thunder Invitational.

Other area teams competing Saturday include Atchison who went 3-3 to take fourth while Hiawatha went 2-2 along with Pleasant Ridge, while Horton went 1-3.

The tournament championship moves Sabetha’s 2019 season record to 8-0, while Nemaha Central is now 6-2.
