The first two weeks of the high school football season are in the books and five area teams remained ranked in the newest state rankings released by Kpreps and the Cap Journal.

Class 3A continues to hold the best ranking for any area team as the Sabetha Bluejays are still at the top after a 50-7 win over Riverside last week pushing the win streak to 22 straight games.

Two teams remain in the 1A rankings with Jackson Heights at No. 3 on Kpreps and No. 4 in the Cap Journal along with Valley Heights who is No. 5 on Kpreps.

The Cobras took down ACCHS 41-8 a week ago and will face an undefeated Maur Hill-Mount Academy team this week while Valley Heights rolled at Horton 54-0 and travel to ACCHS this week.

The final two ranked area teams come in 8-man DII with Hanover still at No. 1 while Axtell remains at No. 2. The Wildcats won their 40th straight game in a 44-8 triumph of Doniphan West last week while the Eagles blew out Blue Valley 58-6.
