Axtell Boys Take First, Centralia Girls Third at Onaga Cross Country Meet

Onaga Cross Country Invitational – Results

Area cross country teams continued their seasons Thursday afternoon at the Onaga Invitational and the best team finishes came from the Centralia girls and Axtell boys.

The Panther girls came away with a third-place team finish with two runners inside of the top five led by Olivia Kuckelman who won the meet while Emma Holthaus took fifth.

Jackson Heights added two more runners inside of the top 15 with Shelby Phillips taking 14th and Annie Allen 15th.

The top 15 was rounded out by Clifton-Clyde, Hanover and Valley Heights who each had one runner with the Eagles Jaysie Bowser finishing ninth, the Wildcats Michelle Zarybnicky 10th and the Mustangs Sam Vermetten 11th.

On the boy’s side Axtell finished first overall as a team with three runners inside of the top 11 led by Quinn Buessing who took second while Simon Schmitz finished fifth and Mitchell Buessing 11th.

Jackson Heights and Washington County rounded out top finishers as the Cobras had Daniel Little win the meet and Drew Holliday taking 10th while the Tigers were led by Tyler Simmons who finished seventh.
