Doniphan West Girls and Axtell Boys Claim TVL Cross Country Titles

TVL Cross Country Meet – Results

The Twin Valley League cross country meet took place Thursday afternoon at Onaga and the Doniphan West girls along with the Axtell boys each claimed league titles.

On the girl’s side Doniphan West claimed the league title with three runners inside of the top 10 led by Elle Williams who took second while Chloe Clevinger wasn’t far behind in fourth and Claire Cole fifth.

The Axtell Eagles were the only other area team with multiple runners in the top 10 as Aspen Buessing finished eighth while Jordyn Smith was ninth.

The meet was won by Washington County’s Natalie Harlan who took the top spot by 15 seconds while Olivia Kuckelman finished third to lead Centralia who finished second as a team.

Hanover, Valley Heights and Linn rounded out the girl’s side, as the Wildcats had Michelle Zarybnicky take sixth, the Mustangs Sam Vermetten seventh and the Bulldogs Claire Biekmann 10th.

The boy’s race was claimed by Axtell who won the league title with three runners inside of the top 10 led by Simon Schmitz who finished second while Clark Werner ended the race fifth and Mitchell Buessing sixth.

Wetmore added two more guys inside of the top 10, led by Rasmus Nielson who won the meet by two seconds while Eric Bloom added a ninth-place finish.

Linn was the only other team that had multiple runners inside of the top 10 as the Bulldogs had Daniel York finish third while Trent Beier ended the race in 10th.

The meet was rounded out by Washington County, Centralia and Frankfort as the Tigers had Tyler Simmons finish fourth, the Panthers Ransom Engelken seventh and the Wildcats Cody Evans eighth.
