Centralia & Clifton-Clyde Volleyball Teams Capture 1A Regional Championships

The high school volleyball postseason got underway Tuesday night for area teams with teams in Class 1A competing at their respective regional tournaments and Clifton-Clyde along with Centralia claimed regional championships.

Clifton-Clyde won the Frankfort regional by taking down Linn in the semifinals and Frankfort in the championship after receiving a bye in the first round.

Along with the Eagles, Frankfort also gets to move on to sub-state play coming up Saturday, while Linn, Washington County, Hanover and Blue Valley all saw their season’s come to a close.

As to Centralia the Panthers won the Axtell regional after getting a first-round bye and beating Doniphan West in the semifinals and in the championship Valley Falls, who also moves on to Saturday’s sub-state play. 

All four teams that advanced to sub-state play will take part in the Centralia sub-state on Saturday with the bracket scheduled to be released Wednesday morning.
