Two Teams, 14 Individuals Ranked in Preseason Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association Rankings

The 2019 high school wrestling season is just a few weeks away and with that the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association has released the preseason rankings for the year.

In Class 4A the only area team ranked to start the year is the Holton Wildcats who will start the season ranked sixth with four guys inside the top six of their respective weight class.

The Cats have two guys ranked second in their weight class with Kolby Roush at 138 pounds while Konnor Tannahill is ranked second at 195. Holton also has Jake Barnes ranked fourth at 106 pounds while Taygen Fletcher is fifth at 145.

Class 4A is rounded out by Perry Lecompton’s Hayden Robb who will start the season off ranked sixth at 220 pounds.

In the 3-2-1A rankings the only ranked area team is the Riverside Cyclones who will begin the 2019-20 season ranked tenth with two guys in the top six of their respective weight class. The Cyclones have Beau Horn ranked second at 132 pounds while Luke Horn is third at 145.

ACCHS and Sabetha each have two guys ranked with the Tigers’ Mason Scholz fourth at 106 pounds and Brodie Page third at 120 while the Bluejays have Kaden Dillon ranked sixth at 120 pounds and Walker Lowdermilk second at 160.

The rankings are rounded out by Oskaloosa and Doniphan West as the Bears have Eli King fifth at 182 pounds and Christopher King sixth at 285 while the Mustangs have Nathaniel Howerton ranked sixth in the 182 pound weight class.
