Seven Area Teams Highlight Preseason Kansas Basketball Coaches Association Rankings

Preseason KBCA – Rankings

The 2019-20 high school basketball season is just one week away and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the preseason state rankings and seven area teams will start the season in the top 10 of their respective classification.

The boy’s side features just one ranked team in the area with the Hiawatha boys set to start the season ranked ninth in Class 3A after reaching the sub-state championship game a year ago.

On the girl’s side six area teams will start the year ranked including two in Class 3A with the defending state champion Royal Valley Panthers holding the No. 1 ranking while Nemaha Central is third after reaching the state tournament last season.

The most area teams come in Class 2A with three teams in the top ten including Jackson Heights at No. 5, Valley Heights at No. 7 and Jeff County North at No. 9.

The final ranked area team comes in Class 1A on the girl’s side with Frankfort set to start the season off at No. 10 following a 21-3 record last season.
