(KLZA)-- The Mound City Panthers are the Missouri 8-Man football state champions for a record eighth time.

The Panthers defeated Southwest Livingston 82-46 Saturday at Faurot Field in Columbia to win their second consecutive “Show-Me-Bowl” in the 8-Man division.

Mound City avenged a loss to the Wildcats that occurred earlier in the season with the win in the title game. Senior Dylan George ran for a game-high 223 yards and four touchdowns including a long TD run of 70 yards. His backfield mate TJ Hopkins picked up 39 yards on the ground and scored three times while quarterback Landon Poppa had 129 yards rushing and four scores.

Mound City put up a Show-Me-Bowl record 82 points and never attempted a pass in the game. The 485 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns were also new records.

Despite allowing 46 points, the Mound City defense was solid holding Wildcat quarterback Mack Anderson to 168 yards rushing on 33 attempts. Anderson ran for more than 3,000 yards on the season and had scored 62 touchdowns entering the game. He scored four times and passed for another TD against the Panther defense.

The Panthers finish the season 12-2, avenging both losses in the playoffs. Southwest Livingston finished 11-2.

Prior to the game, the 1999 State Champion Mound City Panther football team was honored for their 62-60 win over North Andrew. Prior to Saturday's title game, that was the highest scoring Show-Me-Bowl in Missouri 8-Man football.
