It was one of the matchups of the night and week two Tuesday night as Centralia played host to Hanover in a Twin Valley League clash and each side earned a win as the Wildcat girls won in overtime 59-55 while the Panther boys dominated in a 49-34 victory.

Girls: Hanover 59, Centralia 55 Overtime

The girl’s game proved to be the best game so far on the young season as Hanover played well in their opening game of the season in a 59-55 victory.

The Wildcats started fast and forced eight turnovers to lead 21-14 after the first quarter before Centralia battled back in the second.

The Panthers were within five with only 10 seconds to go in the first half and had a chance to pull within one possession, but Hanover’s Tianna Lohse collected a steal and converted a lay up at the buzzer to give the Wildcats a 33-26 lead going into the break.

In the third quarter Centralia got the offense rolling off the back of senior Morgan Kramer who was held scoreless in the first half dealing with foul trouble early for the second straight game. Kramer came alive scoring six points in the third pulling the Panthers back to within one going into the fourth quarter.

The fourth was back-and-forth with neither side taking control before Centralia missed a shot in the final seconds which forced overtime.

In the extra period the Wildcats took advantage at the free throw line and took control going 6-of-8 from the charity stripe in overtime including a 4-of-6 outing in OT by Hanover senior Cadlee Stallbaumer.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by Lohse’s 12 points while sophomore Avery Behrends added 11.

Centralia got a big night from senior Kennedy Becker who scored 15 points but fouled out in overtime.

Centralia had everything going their way the entirety of the first half including two banked in 3-pointers and forcing 11 turnovers to lead 23-10 at the half.
