Sabetha Girls and Jeff West Boys Rack Up Big 7 League Wins

On the second Friday night of the high school basketball season the Sabetha Bluejays traveled to Meriden to take on Jeff West and the night was split as the Sabetha girls won 47-35 while the Jeff West boys finished the split with a 53-44 victory.

In the girl’s game Sabetha was led in scoring by Senior Maggi Hughes who finished with 11 points while Melinna Schumann chipped in 9 points, and Kinley Schuette also netted 9 points

The Jeff West Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Heather Kahler with 17 points while Neva Roenne also chipped in 8 points in the loss for the Tigers.

The Sabetha girls went 16 of 23 from the free throw line while Jeff West went 15 of 25 from the line.

In the boy’s game Jeff West was led in scoring by senior Bryce Clements who had 16 points while Garrett Athon netted 15 points and Quinn Neunswander chipped in 10 points as well.

The Sabetha boys were led in scoring by Senior Gabe Garber who had 18 points in the loss while Braden Argabright also netted 13 points.

Both the Jeff West girls’ and boys’ teams will be at home next Tuesday night for another League matchup with the Perry-Lecompton Kaws.

The Sabetha girls with the win move to 3-0 Overall, and 1-0 in the League while the Bluejay boys fall to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the league with the loss. Both Sabetha teams will once again be on the road next Tuesday night this time on the road to Riversidefor another League matchup with the Cyclones.
