Six Area Teams Featured in Final KBCA Rankings

Regional play continued Tuesday night for area high school basketball teams while other area teams had their final chances to improve their sub-state seed and before that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released their final set of rankings for the year featuring six area teams.

In Class 3A three teams continue to hold serve in the ranking as the Nemaha Central girls continue to be the top ranked team in the state after capping off a perfect 20-0 regular season last night in a win over third-ranked Sabetha who was down two of their top scorers.

On the boy’s side of the rankings the Royal Valley Panthers continue to move up as they are now ranked fourth after wrapping up a 19-4 regular season with a win over Silver Lake last night.

The final three ranked teams come in the Class 2A girl’s rankings with Valley Heights sixth, Jeff County North seventh and Jackson Heights newly into the rankings at No. 8 with all three teams set to compete in the Horton Sub-State Tournament next week.
