20 Area Athletes Earn All-State Selections from Wichita Eagle

Wichita Eagle All-State – Selections

More postseason awards continue to roll in throughout the state for area high school basketball teams and the Wichita Eagle is the first publication to release their all-state teams for the year which features 20 area athletes.

The most area all-state selections come from Class 3A including a pair of first team selections with Royal Valley’s Nahcs Wahwassuck earning a spot on the boy’s first team while Nemaha Central’s Alleigh Kramer earned a spot on the girl’s side.

The Thunder girls also had a second team selection from Hannah Macke which was the only area second team selection.

On the boy’s side four area athletes earned spots on the honorable mention all-state team including three from the Big7 League in Sabetha’s Gabe Garber, Royal Valley’s Brady Klotz and Perry Lecompton’s Blake Farmer along with Maur Hill-Mount Academy’s Abe Siebenmorgen rounding out the selections.

On the girl’s side in 3A it was again the Big 7 dominating the all-state teams including two honorable mention selections from Sabetha in Melinna Schumann and Maggie Hughes along with Jeff West’s Kristin Biltoft.

In Class 2A the boy’s side had just one first team selection which came from Valley Heights’ Cameron Beardsley who led the Mustangs to a state tournament appearance this season.

The only other all-state selection came from McLouth on the boy’s side as Tayshawn Barfield was named honorable mention all-state.

On the girl’s side the all-state teams were led by Jeff County North’s Josie Weishaar who was the only first team selection while Valley Heights’ Sam Vermetten and Jackson Heights’ Kylie Dohl each added second team nods.

Along with Dohl the Cobras also had Amaya Marlatt earn an honorable mention selection while Valley Heights added three in Cat Toerber, Emma Toerber and Emma Yungeberg.

In Class 1A three guys from Twin Valley League earned high all-state honors with Axtell’s Quinn Buessing earning a spot on the first team while Blue Valley’s Brody Barr and Washington County’s Kobe Hoover each earned second team selections.

Four more guys added honorable mention selections including two from Valley Falls in Avery Gatzemeyer and Tyler Lockhart while Frankfort added Garret Dalinghaus and Centralia Kamble Haverkamp.

All-state selections from the Wichita Eagle are rounded out on the girl’s side by Hanover’s Tianna Lohse earning a first team nod while the Frankfort duo of Kennen Brandt and Mariah Broxterman along with Hanover’s Cadlee Stallbaumer and Blue Valley’s Brooklyn Zoeller each earned honorable mention selections.
