McDonald’s Player of the Game Award – Winners

In a rain-shortened game, Sabetha was able to just hold off a furious Valley Falls rally to take an 11-7 victory Monday night.

It was a pitcher dual early with both offenses being held down through the first three innings because of clutch pitching from Valley Falls’ Gage Burdiek and Sabetha’s Braden Argabright.

In the fourth Sabetha finally broke through when Valley Falls made a pitching change to Avery Gatzemeyer, as the Raptors scored six runs in the inning with the big blow being a 3-run home run from Cooper Bradbury.

Along with the blast from Bradbury, Sabetha got an RBI-single from Marcus Bauman and a sacrifice fly from Argabright to lead 6-0.

Valley Falls responded with one run in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI-single from Brennen Miller but stranded two runners to trail 6-1 after four.

Sabetha came right back with five more runs in the fifth on one walk, four singles and one double with two RBI on a Kaden Dillon single and two more on an Argabright double to lead 11-1.

The second straight big inning put Valley Falls down to their final three outs needing three runs to keep the game going to avoid the run-rule and they got that and some scoring six runs in the inning with the big blow being a grand slam off the bat of Denten Elias.

Mason Allen added a two-run double to pull Valley Falls back within 11-7 after five innings.

After the River Bandits held Sabetha scoreless in the top of the sixth, Valley Falls got the leadoff man on in the bottom of the sixth before the rain came which ended the hopes of a late rally.

Cooper Bradbury was named our McDonald’s Player of the Game in the win for Sabetha, as he went 2-for-3 with a single, a three-run home run and two runs scored.

Along with Bradbury, Marcus Bauman and Tristan Wittwer each collected two hits while Braden Argabright racked up three RBI.

Despite the loss Valley Falls still recorded 12 hits in the game with Trenton Kraxner and Brennen Miller each racking up three hits while Avery Gatzemeyer and Denten Elias each added two.

With the win Sabetha improves to 5-7 on the season while Valley Falls drops to 4-5.
