Seneca and Doniphan County split league doubleheader

In one of the most competitive doubleheaders of the year Seneca and Doniphan County battled out to a split with Seneca taking game one 5-3 while DC bounced back to win the second 3-2.

Game one was our featured game on 103.9 KNZA with Seneca jumping out to a 2-0 lead with runs in the first and third innings on RBI’s from Zac Kramer and Landen Baker.

Doniphan County came back and tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the third inning on a 2-run single by Trent Spiker.

Seneca then took a 3-2 lead on an Andrew Leonard RBI single in the fifth inning before scoring two more runs in the top of the seventh to lead 5-2.

In the bottom of the seventh Doniphan County threatened scoring one run to make it a 5-3 game and had the tying run at second with one out, but Landen Baker struck out back-to-back hitters to end the game.

Zac Kramer was named our McDonald’s Player of the Game on KNZA after a 1-for-3 day with an RBI at the plate while throwing six innings allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five.

Noe Gauna added a 2-for-4 day at the plate in the win, while Leonard, Baker, Kramer and Ahlquist each added RBI’s.

Trent Spiker and Kobe Davis each had two hits in the loss for DC.

In game two it was a pitchers dual between Trent Spiker and Jon Strathman with DC scoring two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to walk off by a 3-2 final.

Seneca led 2-1 going into the bottom of the fifth before Doniphan plated two runs on the same wild pitch to end the game.

Kole Franken, Braden Chalfant, and Spiker all had one hit to lead DC, while Dylan Schultejans had two hits in the loss for Seneca.

Sabetha walks off Falls City in single game

Despite committing seven errors and getting only three hits, Sabetha defeated Falls City 9-8 on base on balls walk-off victory.

The Raptors were aided by 10 free passes and five Blue Storm errors.

Tristan Wittwer pitched the final 2.1 innings for his second win of the year.
