Area Athletes Shine in 2020 Kansas Shrine Bowl

2020 Shrine Bowl - Statistics

The 2020 Kanas Shrine Bowl took place Saturday evening from Hummer Sports Complex in Topeka and 10 area athletes along with two coaches shined in the contest for the East squad.

The East fell in the contest 14-9, but it was a big night for Centralia’s Kamble Haverkamp who was named the defensive MVP after recording two interceptions and three total tackles.

Nemaha Central’s Bryce Uphaus added seven total tackles and a tackle for loss in the contest, while Jeff West’s Kauli Saili and Axtell’s Quinn Buessing each added tackles for loss on defense.

Buessing was also the East’s starting quarterback in the game and was 7-for-13 through the air for 96 yards while catching one pass for 13 yards.

Sabetha’s Gabe Garber did it all for the East on Saturday as he caught one pass for 38 yards while completing one pass for 13 yards and rushing once for three yards.

Maur Hill-Mount Academy’s Abe Siebenmorgen also had a solid day at linebacker for the East as he recorded three total tackles, a half tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Perry Lecompton’s Grant Roush recorded two more tackles, while Dane Spoonhunter from Royal Valley and Carson Williams of Jackson Heights competed on the offensive and defensive lines for the East.
