Sabetha Girls and Boys Claim Hiawatha Cross Country Invitational

Hiawatha Invitational – Girls & Boys

Area cross country teams were in action Thursday night at the Hiawatha Invitational and Sabetha swept the meet taking both the girls’ and boys’ team titles.

The Sabetha girls won the meet behind two top 10 finishes led by Mary Lukert who claimed third while Leah Lukert finished just behind in sixth.

Doniphan West finished second as a team but had the most top 10 finishers with three led by Chloe Clevinger who won the meet while Elle Williams finished fourth and Claire Cole fifth.

Hiawatha was the only other team with multiple top 10 finishers as Kate Madsen finished second and Darcy Lierz ninth while Nemaha Central got their best finish from Hailey Nordus who claimed eighth.

On the boy’s side Sabetha won the meet with four guys inside of the top 10 led by Kalvin Evans who claimed fifth while Cameron Harrell, Tyrese Bishop and Braden Menold finished eighth, ninth and 10th respectively.

Hiawatha was the only other area school with guys in the top 10 as Justin Hodge claimed second while Christian Shaffer finished seventh.
