Sabetha Sweeps Big 7 League Cross Country Championships

Big 7 League Cross Country – Results

The Big 7 League held the annual cross country meet with Holton playing host this season and it was Sabetha who swept the girls and boys team titles.

On the girl’s side the Lady Jays won the league with three runners inside of the top 10 as Mary, Leah and Hattie Lukert finished second through fourth.

The race was won by Hiawatha’s Kate Madsen who won for the second straight season while fellow teammate MJ Hageman finished seventh.

Nemaha Central was the only other area school with multiple top 10 finishers as Hailey Nordus took fifth while Kyndall Sextro was 10th.

Royal Valley, Perry Lecompton and Holton rounded out the top 10 as the Panthers had Cheyenne Hittle finish sixth while the Kaws had Ryleigh Morgan come in eighth and the Cats’ Piper Robinson ninth.

On the boy’s side Sabetha won the league with four guys inside of the top 10 with Kalvin Evans, Cameron Harrell and Tyrese Bishop finishing second through fourth while Braden Menold came in seventh.

The race was won by Hiawatha’s Justin Hodge who finished of the Redhawk sweep of individual title while it was his fourth league title along with Christian Shaffer finishing 10th.

Perry Lecompton was the only other team with multiple top 10 finishers led by James Bartlett who claimed sixth while Boyd Sollars was eighth.

The meet was rounded out by Royal Valley and Nemaha Central as the Panthers had Antonio Hopkins place fifth while John Langill was ninth.
