Big 7 Announces All League Football Team

With three Big 7 football teams still alive in the 2020 playoffs and set for a quarterfinal game on Friday, the League has released it's top athletes for this fall season. 

Perry Lecompton, who won the Big League title for the first time in school history leads the way with five First Team selections on both sides of the football as they get set to face Prairie View this Friday.  Holton is also still alive in the 3A bracket after going 4-1 in league games this season and the Wildcats had four First Team defensive selection with three on offense. They play at Frontenac this week. Nemaha Central had a trio of top all-league picks on both sides of the football and continues their defense of the 2A State title by playing Osage City. 

Sabetha tied for second in the final league standings with a 4-1 record and had four First Team defensive picks as well as two top league selections on offense. The Bluejays also had the top league kicker and punter.  Jeff West had one first-team pick on both sides of the ball while Riverside has one First Team selection on offense and Royal Valley had an all-league defensive player earn recognition.    

Those players that earned First Team honors on both sides of the football included: 

Thad Metcalfe, Sean Urban and Hayden Robb from Perry Lecompton
Canon Karn and Konnor Tannahill of Holton
Tyler Gerety and Nathan Deters from Nemaha Central
Drew Schmelzle from Sabetha
Danny Saili of Jeff West
