Nine Area Basketball Teams Highlight Preseason KBCA Rankings

Preseason KBCA – Rankings

The high school basketball season is scheduled to get underway on Thursday and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the preseason rankings for the 2020-21 season.

Nine area teams highlight the preseason rankings including three teams in Class 3A on the girls side and all from the Big 7 League led by Nemaha Central who is ranked third while Sabetha is fifth and Jeff West ninth.

Two more teams highlight the 2A rankings on the girl’s side as Valley Heights is fifth after winning 22 games last season, while Jeff County North is ranked eighth to start the year.

In Class 1A-DI the Centralia girls will start the year off ranked second after reaching the state semifinals a year ago, while Jackson Heights is ranked seventh in the preseason rankings after making the drop from 2A.

On the boy’s side the Royal Valley boys will start the season off ranked fifth in Class 3A after winning 21 games last season and bringing most of that production back.

The final ranked area team comes in Class 1A-DI in the Centralia boys who are ranked fifth to start the season after reaching the state tournament and winning the Twin Valley League.
