Eight Area Teams Highlight Jan. 19 KBCA Rankings

Midseason tournament week is here for area high school basketball teams and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the first set of rankings for the new year featuring eight area teams.

In Class 3A on the girl’s side two Big 7 League teams continue to hold serve in the rankings with the Nemaha Central Thunder ranked third with an unbeaten record while Sabetha is ranked sixth.

In Class 2A the Valley Heights girls are also undefeated on the season and find themselves ranked fourth in the polls.

The girl’s rankings are rounded out by Jackson Heights who is ranked seventh in Class 1A-DI, while Wetmore is ninth in 1A-DII.

On the boy’s side just three teams are ranked with the Royal Valley Panthers leading the way in Class 3A ranked sixth.

Two Twin Valley League teams wrap up the rankings with the Centralia boys seventh in 1A-DI while Axtell is ninth in 1A-DII.
