13 Area Teams Highlight Jan. 26 KBCA Rankings

Most area high school basketball midseason tournaments wrapped up over the weekend and with more tournaments this week the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association released the latest rankings for the year featuring 11 area teams.

On the girl’s side the Class 3A rankings continue to hold two local teams as Nemaha Central remains ranked third week while Sabetha is fifth.

In Class 2A despite suffering their first loss of the year in the Twin Valley League tournament last week the Valley Heights girls are ranked fourth.

The most ranked area teams comes in Class 1A D-I on the girl’s side as Jackson Heights is ranked fifth, while Frankfort is into the rankings for the first time this year at No. 8 and Doniphan West right behind in ninth.

The girls’ rankings are wrapped up in Class 1A-DII with the Hanover girls ranked second while Wetmore is ninth.

On the boy’s side the Royal Valley Panthers continue to hold serve in Class 3A checking in this week at No. 7, while a new team is into the Class 2A rankings this week as the Valley Falls boys are ranked ninth.

The rankings are rounded out in Class 1A with the Centralia boys ranked sixth in Division I, while the Hanover boys are second and Axtell tenth in Division II.
