Area Wrestlers Qualify for 321A Sub-State Meet

Postseason wrestling continued over the weekend as regional tournaments took place and several area athletes earned tickets to sub-state tournaments coming up next weekend.

At the Class 321A regional meet at Rossville the Sabetha Bluejays claimed the team championship and will send 10 guys to sub-state wrestling after finishing in the top four of their respective weight class.

The Jays got first place finishes from Kellen Menold at 106 pounds and Kaden Dillon at 160 while Cullen Wikle was second at 113, Kellan Spielman fourth at 120, Colin Menold fourth at 126, Cole Hinton second at 138, Jonathan Renyer fourth at 145, Josh Herrmann third at 170, Zach Grimm fourth at 182 and Jacob  Kuenzi fourth at 195.

The ACCHS Tigers finished fifth as a team and will send two guys to sub-state after Mason Scholz claimed the top spot at 132 pounds while Bricen Lee was second at 152.

Nemaha Central adds three guys moving on to next week after John Langill finished fourth at 113 while Mo Hilbert was fourth at 170 and Kaleb Reitz fourth at 220.

The Oskaloosa Bears send two more guys to next week after Jesse Thacher took third at 113 pounds while Justin Miller was third at 285.

Pleasant Ridge adds one guy to sub-state with Nate Wilburn taking second at 120 pounds while Doniphan West will send Camron Yuill at 106 after he took third.

Onaga and Riverside round out 321A sub-state qualifiers as the Buffaloes Riyln Mayginnes took second to qualify while the Cyclones Conner Hayes finished third.

These qualifiers now get set for sub-state next Saturday which is slated to be held at Marion High School beginning at 12-noon.
