Nebraska State Tournament Coverage

(KLZA)-- Falls City Sacred Heart and Auburn boys basketball teams will be in Lincoln for the Nebraska Boys State Basketball Tournament with first round games scheduled for Wednesday,  March 10.

The Bulldogs have won 59 straight games and will  attempt to make it three consecutive Class C-1 state  championships.  Top seed Auburn ( 23-0)  will play Pierce (21-4) Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. 

A Bulldog win would put them in the semi-final Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena against either #4 seed Concordia or #5 seed Milford who are also  undefeated. 

The Class C-1 third place game will be played at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Lincoln North Star High School.  The C-1 title game will be Saturday morning at 10:45 a.m. again at PBA.

For the Irish,  (17-7) it could be two in a row this year in D-2,  but the #7 seed Irish will have to get past #2 seed Mullen ( 23-3) Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Lincoln East High School.  

A first round win would move the Irish to the semifinals on Thursday morning at 11:15 a.m.  against either #3 seed Humphrey St. Francis or #6 seed Wynot at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The D-2 championship game will be 3:45 p.m. Saturday at PBA with a third place game in D2 played at 9 a.m.  at Lincoln North Star High School.

You can listen to the Irish and the Bulldogs live on SUNNY 101.3  or KTNC, 1230 a.m. and 107.1 F.M. if thre is a conflict with other games.
