Nemaha Central, Sabetha and Hiawatha Qualify Athletes to 3A State Track

Area Class 3A track teams competed at the regional meet hosted by Beloit on Friday and several athletes earned spots at the state meet.

The Nemaha Central girls will be sending two to state led by Hannah Scott who qualified in the javelin and shot put, while Hailey Nordus was a regional champion in the 400-meter dash.

Sabetha will have girls compete in six different events at state led by Leah Renyer who qualified in the discus and javelin, while Mary Lukert heads to state in the 100 and 300-meter hurdles, Oliva Saner the pole vault, Hattie Lukert the 800-meter run and the 4 by 800-meter relay team.

Hiawatha rounds out the girls side with Claire Geiger qualifying in the 100-meter hurdles, Ashlynn Henry in the shot put and javelin and the 4 by 800-meter relay team.

On the boy’s side Nemaha Central will send Nathan Deters to state in the shot put and discus along with Dylan Lortscher in the high jump and Gavin Cain in the triple jump.

Sabetha and Hiawatha each had just one state qualifier as the Bluejays Noah Nonnast qualified in the 200-meter dash while the Redhawks Justin Hodge will compete in the 3200-meter run along with the 4 by 800-meter relay team.

These state qualifiers now get set for the state meet in Wichita which will take place Friday for Class 3A with live reports on the MSC Sports Radio Network.
