Frankfort Golf Claims 1A State Championship Leading Area Performances at State Golf

2021 State Golf – Results

State golf tournaments wrapped up Tuesday for all classifications and the Frankfort Wildcats are state champions in Class 1A while the Centralia Panthers have the individual champion to lead area performances.

The Cats claimed the rain shortened tournament behind a pair of top 10 finishes led by Aiden Gerstner who took second place with a first round 79 while Gavin Cornelison added an eighth-place finish. Frankfort also had Joey Hardwick shoot 90, Sebastian Thored a 93 and Grady Fox a 103.

Centralia finished fourth as a team and had the individual state champion in Trent Mars who shot 78 in round one, while Jude Conley added a 98 to back up Mars and Presley Bowers along with Braxton Powers each shot 103.

In Class 2A Washington County’s Kobe Hoover had a strong day two push to eventually wind up in eighth place after shooting 80 in round one and a 76 in round two.

The Class 3A tournament saw Jeff West finish fifth as a team led by Riley Morrow who shot 80 and 85 while Wyatt Barnett shot 86 and 85 along with Colby Farrant shooting 89 and 86 in his two rounds.

The best finish in 3A came from Perry Lecompton’s Kaden Tarwater who took 12th place after a strong second round where he shot 76 after shooting an 84 in round one.

Sabetha and Nemaha Central rounded out state golf with Riley Lierz shooting 24-over with two rounds of 83, while the Thunder’s Cassidy Corby finished 25-over for the tournament shooting 85 and 82.
